INGREDIENTS
Vitamin C…………………………… 200 mg
Excipient qs …………………………… 1 ml
INDICATIONS
Prevention and treatment of disease caused by vitamin C deficiency, strengthening the body resistance in case of infection, poisoning, anti-stress when transported far distances.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
- Cattle, horses, camel: 1ml/ 12 – 15 kg body weight/ day.
- Poultry: 1 ml/ 5 – 7 kg body weight/ day.
Continuous intramuscular injection 3 – 5 days.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
Animals sensitive to any ingredients in drug
PRECAUTIONS AND WARNINGS
- Ascorbic acid should be given with care to patients with underlying renal failure due to the risk of formation of renal oxalate calculi. Tolerance may be induced in patients taking high doses.
- Large doses of Ascorbic Acid have resulted in haemolysis in patients with glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency.
- Observe aseptic precautions.
- Care should be taken to avoid accidental self-injection: may cause irritation at site of injection.
- Provided the recommendations are followed carefully, undesirable effects should not occur.
DRUG INTERACTION
Aspirin can reduce the absorption of ascorbic acid by approximately a third and decreases urinary excretion by about half. The clinical importance of this is uncertain
